By the end of the 7th grade year, the students should have a completed an in-depth study in the following areas:


1. Rocks and Minerals


2. Cells


3. Earth’s Layers


4. Newton’s Laws/ Forces


5. Atmosphere


CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS: Be respectful. Be responsible. Be ready to learn. Students are expected to be on time with the following materials daily:


1. Textbook


2. Paper/Pencil


3  ISN


4. Assignment for the day


*Violations will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Repeat offenders will be sent to the office. Please refer to the Student Handbook for further guidelines and consequences.






- 40% = chapter tests, projects, special assignments, essays, ISN checks, and lab reports.


Classwork/ Homework


- 40% = critical thinking questions, vocabulary games,  quizzes, and various


group activities


9 Weeks Exam


- 20%


Progress reports will be sent home every 3 weeks. Also, remember to check Powerschool often to keep up with your progress.




Students must have : 1 spiral notebook per 9 week period, pencils, paper, and a pocket folder. (You will need a total of 4 spiral notebooks in all.) These notebooks will remain in the classroom at all times. You will take all assignments home in the pocket folder.




Every student is responsible for his or her own makeup work when absent. A list of the assignments will be visible in class daily at the Makeup Work Station. Please refer to the SDMS Handbook for rules regarding makeup work for full credit.


Late work is different. Late work is the proverbial “forgot it at home” work. This work may be turned in for reduced credit. Study Hall Detention may result from late work. Study Hall Detention is held after school and parents are notified by Mrs. Blevins before they are assigned to stay and complete the assignment.
